Updated Healthcare Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations in Response to COVID-19 Vaccination
CDC has updated select healthcare infection prevention and control recommendations in response to COVID-19 vaccination, which are summarized in this guidance.
The updates include recommendations for:
· Addressing limited data on COVID-19 vaccine protection in people who are immunocompromised
· Clarified, in the definition of fully vaccinated, that there is currently no post-vaccination time limit on fully vaccinated status
· Circumstances when, if all participants are fully vaccinated, visitation or communal activities could occur without use of source control or physical distancing
o This includes options for fully vaccinated HCP to eat or have in-person meetings with other fully vaccinated HCP without use of source control or physical distancing
· Expanded screening testing of asymptomatic HCP who are fully vaccinated is no longer recommended.
o Vaccinated HCP should have a viral test if the HCP is symptomatic, has a higher-risk exposure, or is working in a facility experiencing an outbreak.
· In nursing homes, unvaccinated HCP should continue expanded screening testing as previously recommended.
